George Stergios

George is almost 75, married to Judy and also living with Abbie the cuddly cat . Their two daughters are in the design business and are currently living in Amsterdam. He retired as a career Chemical Engineer in 2002. His interest in photography goes back to the 60’s with cameras ranging from the Retinette IIB through film SLR’s in the Canon stable through to modern DSLR’s such as the Canon EOS 10D, 30D, 5DMkII and currently the 7D plus a G1X high end compact and Sony NEX5 & 5N. The Sonys are used for underwater photography.

He obtained his Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society in 2010, shooting a wide range of subjects including aviation and sport. He has exhibited at several Hertfordshire venues and as well as being a member of the Royal Photographic Society is also a member of the Herts Foto Forum who promote photography as a serious art form.

He has always had strong interests in aviation and sport, especially tennis. He likes the immediacy of photography and thus his action studies are where his images are mainly focused. Tennis is both played and photographed by him. He uses both Adobe Lightroom and OnOne software to adjust and handle the finalisation of his images plus produces Photo-books using the Blurb platform.
